Personally, I don’t think this week went as well as the previous week, but that is ok! I still made some progress with helping my group, and with trying to plan my research report proposal topic.
I researched more for the differences of javascript/python and explored hand tracking in pipetouch and ml5js. I noticed that pipetouch’s hand keypoint detection is better than ML5js’s hand keypoint detection, since with pipetouch, less keypoints need to be detected for the remaining keypoints to be detected. With ML5js however, the keypoint’s lose detection easier. I tested this by positioning my hand slightly outside of the webcam’s view.
but I’m not sure if this is affected by my chosen browser or not so I will research deeper into that.
I also learned that pipetouch can be used in Javascript, so I could have some p5js integration with it! I tried to research if there are any alternatives to p5js in python, and there are.
One alternative I did find was the processing language, which does have a “python” mode.Python Mode for Processing. Processing does have a lot of similarities to p5js
I also attended a student rep meeting this week, I’ve realised that I need to think about my words before I say them more, so that I can get my point across better. I also need to be a bit more prepared, as this session I forgot to ask for feedback from my course.
